August Foundation Message
August means back to school for many families—new schedules, new routines and calendars that quickly fill up. As we make sure our children have everything they need for a successful school year, it is also a good time to get back to basics with our own health.
When was the last time you saw your primary care physician? Are you due for an annual mammogram, colonoscopy or another recommended screening?
These appointments can be easy to postpone when life gets busy, but screening and early detection save lives. Prioritizing preventive care is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves and for the people who depend on us.
As the school year begins, consider adding one more item to your back-to-school checklist: your health. Make the appointment. Schedule the screening. Encourage someone you love to do the same.
This message is especially timely as the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation prepares for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. We are developing community partnerships, fundraising opportunities and activities to support the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center and help ensure women in our community have access to essential breast health services.
If you own a business, belong to a community organization or would like to host a fundraiser, we invite you to partner with us. Please contact the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation at 661-200-1205 to learn more.
Together, we are advancing Henry Mayo’s vision of being the Most Patient-Centric Hospital Anywhere—one patient, one family and one lifesaving connection at a time.
In gratitude,
Renee Leon
