January Foundation President's Message

The start of the New Year is traditionally considered a quiet time to reflect and look forward. The first few days of 2025, however, dramatically brought life-altering challenges and unspeakable tragedies to our region, as devastating fires impacted our friends and neighbors in Pasadena, Altadena, Pacific Palisades and Malibu. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those who've been impacted by the fires, windstorms, evacuations and the loss of cherished memories. We are all connected to each other in Southern California and we send our positive thoughts as this region heals, rebuilds, and moves forward.

We have also witnessed countless acts of heroism. A heartfelt thank you to all the brave first responders who are working tirelessly to those in need. From our firefighters to our law enforcement, to medical response teams, and to the thousands of relief and recovery experts providing assistance, we salute you. We also extend our appreciation to our greater community, united in support for our neighbors. Despite the crisis around us, know that our hospital is here to serve you every day and night.

We are proud to have partnered with the American Red Cross last week to donate approximately 20,000 N-95 masks from our Henry Mayo Disaster Resource Center to assist in their rescue and recovery efforts. Please stay tuned for upcoming blood drives, as the need for blood and plasma will be significant due to the postponement of many drives during this time. We will have the Red Cross on campus on February 17, more information to follow.

This year marks Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s 50 Years of serving this community. We thank you for allowing us to grow with the Santa Clarita Valley and for your ongoing support.
