Palliative Care
“Hope does not lie in a way out, but a way through.” Robert Frost
When you are dealing with serious illness, you need answers, symptom relief,
expertise and support. At Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, we understand that
when a loved one has a serious illness, it affects the entire family.
Our Palliative Care Services provide compassionate care to relieve suffering,
improve symptoms, and assist families in making informed decisions regarding
treatment options and goals of care.
Our palliative care team is comprised of interdisciplinary professionals with expertise and training specifically in palliative care. Our medical director is certified by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.
Enhancing Quality of Life
Any patient who is coping with a chronic, progressive or even life-threatening
illness may benefit from our palliative care service. Palliative care
is best when introduced early in your care, and is provided at the same
time as curative treatments.
With palliative care you can expect:
- Relief from distressing symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, nausea, constipation, loss of appetite, and difficulty sleeping
- Improved ability to tolerate medical treatments
- Ongoing discussions regarding your condition and your choices for medical center
