Childbirth Education Series

A comprehensive 7-week course* for you and your significant other, covering everything you need to know about pregnancy and beyond.

Week 1 to 4: This is a childbirth education course that covers:
  • Pregnancy
  • Stages of labor
  • Pain management
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Cesarean section
  • The post-partum period
  • Newborn care

Week 7 - Free Bonus Class: Successful Breastfeeding: All of the Basics to Get You Started

Cost: $199 per couple

Sessions 1-4 must be taken together.

This is an exclusive one-time class that covers Week 1 - Week 4 of the seven-week series.

Transitions to Parenthood

This two-hour class focuses on the emotional and psychological issues that arise during the first year after delivery.

  • What can I really expect to feel during the first year after my baby is born? Dispelling the myths.
  • What can I expect from my baby during the first year? Exploring infant development.
  • What can we expect from each other? Looking at the marital relationship and how it changes after the birth of a baby.
  • Making a plan to take care of yourself. Building your support systems and helping the new Mom and Dad get their needs met.
  • What is this thing called Postpartum Depression? How do I know if I have it or I'm at risk? Discussion of the physiological, psychological and environmental circumstances which predispose a woman to this type of depression.

Time: 6:30 - 9:30 pm
Cost: Individual Class - $35 per person

Child & Infant Safety and CPR (not a certification class)

This class will cover 1 and 2 man rescuer. Child and infant CPR with rescue breathing and choking procedures as well as automated external defibrillator. At the end of each class, participants will receive an Child/Infant CPR participation card from the American Heart Association.

Successful Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding Basics

"The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends breastfeeding for the first year of life. The AAP believes that breast milk is the “optimal form of nutrition for infants."

Time: 6:30 to 9:30 pm
Cost: Individual Class - Free

Baby Care Basics

This informal class will help new parents feel more comfortable caring for their newborn. Taught by a pediatrician and an RN, topics include newborn care, sleep patterns, vaccinations, and SIDS. A discussion session will allow opportunities for questions.

Fourth Wednesday of each month: 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Healthy Transitions

This is an extension of our Transitions to Parenthood prenatal class, this nighttime support group is led by one of our social worker’s and Lactation Specialists’ to help families transition to their new parenting role and find work- life balance.

First and third Tuesday of each month: 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Parent Preview Tour - Tyke Hike - Free

Help your children prepare for their new responsibilities as a big brother or sister! They’ll learn how to behave around a newborn and hold a baby properly, as well as other important safety tips.
Held the third Thursday of the month: 3-4:30 pm (meet in the hospital lobby at 2:45pm)
