Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME)

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is committed to providing you with excellent care in a timely manner, which is why we are pleased to offer RME—an enhanced patient assessment process.

• RME is designed to reduce the time patients spend in the Emergency Department.

• RME allows you to complete check-in and be seen by a healthcare provider who specializes in Emergency Medicine—all at the same time. This enables any necessary testing to begin more quickly.

• Besides serving as a central location for your initial medical tests, RME allows our team to promptly address your needs.

• Many patients will return to the waiting room while awaiting results. During this time, test processing continues, and you will be brought back into the Emergency Department to complete your evaluation and treatment once results are available.

• This process ensures that time spent in the waiting room is purposeful, with lab tests and imaging studies in progress.

• Our commitment is to provide you with quality, compassionate care—with excellence—in a timely fashion.

Space is limited; however, the team is committed to accommodating one visitor per patient, unless there are extenuating circumstances. Guardians of any minor patient seeking treatment are permitted to stay with the minor at all times.
