Together for Mental Health this May

Statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) shed light on the increase in depression and anxiety related to the first year of COVID. According to the WHO brief, the global increase was 25%. While great need already existed in the SCV for mental health services, the pandemic exacerbated feelings of loneliness, fear, grief, and worry related to health and finances, all of which contributes to depression and anxiety. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Community Education is here to do our part in providing support and education so TOGETHER we can address mental health.

It’s important to remember that we can make a difference in our own mental health. Focusing on behaviors that support balanced mood and energy go a long way to supporting mental health. Eating a diet with daily intake of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, and whole grains; getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night; and daily exercise are behaviors we can all focus on for mind and body.

Join us this month at one of our many events, classes and support groups as we come together for mental health.
