A native of Southern California, Dr. Cologne completed his general surgery training in Chicago at Rush University and Cook County Medical Centers, followed by specialty training in Colon and Rectal Surgery. He joined USC in 2012 and now specializes in laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures for a variety of diseases, including colon and rectal cancer, complex endoscopic polyp removal, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and the treatment and management of anorectal disorders such as hemorrhoids.
Dr. Cologne is board certified in general and colorectal surgery. He has received a number of awards, including Pasadena and Los Angeles Top Doctor, Compassionate Doctor, Patient’s Choice Award, and more. He has performed more than 800 major colorectal procedures.
He serves as the Quality Division Representative for Colorectal and the Vice Chair of the Quality Committee in the Department of Surgery. He has authored numerous book chapters and scientific manuscripts in colon and rectal as well as general surgery. He has research interests in surgical education, colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal disorders.
Dr. Cologne was named one of the Top Doctors of 2021 by Los Angeles Magazine.
