About Amanda Woodworth, MD

Amanda M. Woodworth, MD, FACS, CPE, is a board-certified breast cancer surgeon who delivers comprehensive breast care — from risk assessment, genetic testing, risk reduction and various biopsy techniques to hidden-scar surgeries, oncoplastics, lumpectomies and mastectomies, including skin- and nipple-sparing, flat closure, modified radical and total.

Dr. Woodworth serves as Director of Breast Health at Keck Medicine of USC/Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, CA. Her research interests focus on breast cancer risk and prevention, along with targeted therapies for different types of breast cancer. Among other honors, Dr. Woodworth has received education and research grants from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Despite having no physicians in her family, she began dreaming of being a doctor when she was four years old. Later, seeing an entire surgical team join together to help a patient with skill and compassion convinced her to become a surgeon.

In her free time, she enjoys exploring local hiking trails and other areas of Southern California with her husband and their dog, Otis.

"I believe in order to treat somebody's cancer you must understand what ‘living’ looks like to the individual, whether it’s having a family, wanting to have a family, financial stress, a stressful job, difficulty maintaining a healthy diet, etc. It is the entire team's responsibility to understand how these factors can play a role in the treatment plan.

"Spending the time to really discuss a patient’s diagnosis and treatment options with them takes away fear of the unknown and helps to build trust. I want to help to make the patient cancer free and return them to the life they want and deserve as soon as possible."
