Admin Fellow Position

The Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Administrative Fellowship is a year-long rotational and project-based fellowship designed to give recent MHA/MBA graduates an opportunity to expand upon their academic skillset. This program is designed for high-potential health administration students/graduates seeking to gain valuable experience through assignments that will raise their visibility within the organization. Fellows can expect to:

  • Contribute to strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Work within our each of our hospital’s departments, and with our outpatient service lines.
  • Expand their skills by developing new projects, working with established multidisciplinary teams, and conducting research.
  • Participate in a rotation schedule developed and designed around their areas of interest.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders during board meetings and in weekly meetings with the fellow’s Executive Preceptor.

Candidates must have recently completed or be on target to complete an MHA or MBA (preferably with an academic concentration and/or experience within the healthcare field). The application process begins in early June for consideration to start the program in June of the following year.

Past Fellows

Ian Wade, MHA, LSSBB - 2025 to 2026

Ian Wade came to Henry Mayo all the way from Virginia Beach, Virgina to join our Fellowship Program. During his fellowship, Ian was a part of several key initiatives including co-project managing the buildup of our on-campus Empath unit, operationalizing the consolidation of contract labor vendors, providing data support for the development of various outpatient service line initiatives, among being a part of many other projects and initiatives. Ian currently is the Perioperative Business Services Manager for Henry Mayo, overseeing the business aspects of all inpatient and outpatient surgical services. In his free time, Ian enjoys spending time with his newly adopted Brown Lab, Talbot. Ian also enjoys weightlifting, hiking and getting to know the Southern California and Santa Clarita area through many weekend road trips, camping excursions, and food tours. 

Renu Venkatesh, MHA - 2024 to 2025

Renu is currently a Key Account Executive for payer relations at Supercare Health, where she focuses on business development and operational success. During her Administrative Fellowship, she worked on various projects, including restructuring the Tele-Neurology team. This work helped solidify her interest in strategic planning, growth, and project management. Outside of work, Renu enjoys drawing, traveling, and participating in various sports.
