Telemetry > Nurses Talk About Their Telemetry Unit

Dana Meyer, RN, Director, Telemetry Services, "We have a new monitoring system that's state of the art in its ability to detect subtle changes in cardiac function, but what makes us special are our nurses and CNAs—the people who care for our patients."

After raising her five children, Frances Hernandez, RN, Telemetry 1, decided to re-enter the work force and pursue her dream career of nursing. "After searching inside myself," she says, "I realized that this was what I really wanted to do. I wanted to make a difference."

Gloria Haddad, RN, Telemetry 1, has worked at Henry Mayo for 25 years. "I've seen so many changes, so much improvement. I do enjoy working here, that's why I stay. I love this place."

Carrie Moor, RN, Telemetry 1, "When you see a patient come into this unit, and you're not sure how they're going to do, and they turn around—that's the best reward."

Sue Walroth, RN, Telemetry 2, "There are many days I go home and feel really good. I've taken care of somebody, I've helped somebody, I've made a family happy."

Norman Medina, LVN, Telemetry 2, "The work is gratifying. You help other people. It's not always easy, but most of the time it's very rewarding."

Wanda Smith, RN, Telemetry 1, "As a charge nurse, I really have to depend on my staff to keep me informed of where they are with their patients. And I like the staff I work with. We have a great team. Everybody works together really well."

Maria Infante, CNA, Telemetry 1, calls the nursing staff her "second family." "I love to work in this unit. I love everybody here."

Renee Cheatham, RN, Telemetry 2,
"Teaching is one of my strong points. If I can make patients feel confident about their ability to care for themselves when they're released, that's a good feeling."
