Cheers and Crowds Recognize Service Excellence

There was a whole lot of cheering going on Nov. 15, 2007 in the hospital cafeteria as Service Excellence Awards were presented to two employees, a physician and a volunteer for going above and beyond their call of duty.

The crowd had gathered almost to the back door to hear the names of co-workers who were named winners and recognized for consistently helping us create the ideal environment to surpass expectations.

“Those that are chosen today are truly worthy of this recognition,” said Roger Seaver, President/CEO. “They stand out as individuals who strive to make our hospital a great place.”

Jill Crawford, RN, received the nursing award for her dedicated work in the Women’s Services Unit. “Jill collaborates with everyone to ensure patient safety and high quality nursing,” said Sally McGann, Director of the Women’s Services. “She is a mentor and great role model and anticipates the needs of her team at all times.” It’s great to know when you walk on the unit the atmosphere is controlled and organized because Jill is in charge”. When things go wrong as they can, Jill maintains a professional and calm approach for her team as well as the patients she cares for.

In the Physician category, Anil Wadhwani, M.D. was recognized as the physician winner.  “Working with the team of technologists and nurses, he has given a better quality of life to our patients,” said Gerald Roth, M.D., of Tower Imaging Valencia.

Persuaded to come into the cafeteria by two nurses, Wadhwani was incredibly shocked to be named a winner and again surprised to see his wife and mother in the audience.  “It is a privilege to work here, thank you for the opportunity,” Wadhwani said as he accepted his awards.

Recognized in the Non-nursing category was Nikki Wilson, PTA,for her work as with the hospital’s rehabilitation services. “She is the epitome of compassion and excellence,” said Glenn Dabatos, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “She always exceeds every expectation we have for her. This is definitely a well-deserved award.”

Finally, Margaret Hebert was honored in the Volunteer category. “She holds impeccable standards for cleanliness and infection control,” said Maria Strmsek, Director of Volunteer Services. “Her motto is clean it as if you were the next patient in this room and in this bed.

The next Service Excellence Awards will be held on Feb. 21, 2008. To nominate an individual, please fill out a Service Excellence nomination form, located in blue ballot boxes throughout the hospital.
