Parent Preview: Presentation and Tour
In the comfort of one of our meeting rooms, a nurse from our Women's Unit will take parents step-by-step through the birthing experience at our hospital, from pre-admission to discharge, answering any questions that come up, as best as she can, along the way. This presentation is followed by a firsthand tour of the unit, which includes, subject to availability, a labor and delivery room, a postpartum room, and a C-section operating room. This overview should give expectant parents a chance to experience the friendliness of our staff and their willingness to help them have the happy, secure, and relaxed birth experience that they desire.
This free, 1 hour presentation and tour of Henry Mayo's Women's Unit is a unique opportunity for expectant parents and those planning a family soon to familiarize themselves with our hospital.

Tyke Hike
Being a big brother or sister to a newborn infant is exciting and fun, and our free Tyke Hike program helps prepare children for their new "responsibilities. Siblings-to-be will learn how to behave around a newborn, hold a baby properly, and other safety tips. Throughout the program, they will receive token gifts that reinforce what they learn, like a little scrub sponge to teach them the importance of washing their hands when touching the new baby. In addition, children will be taken on a short tour of the Women's Unit, so they can see for themselves where Mommy will be having her baby.
"The questions from the kids are great. I had a very large group one day and a young child stood up and asked, 'How does the baby come out?' So I said, 'Sometimes there's mommy-questions and sometimes there's nurse-questions, and that's a mommy-question,' because you don't know what everyone in the room wanted their child to be told."
