![]() Health Foundation to Host 5K Run and Walk to Benefit Hospital's Patient Care Services Community members and local businesses are invited to join doctors, nurses and staff from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital during the 22nd Annual "Run for the Health of It" 5-K Run and Walk Saturday, Sept. 30. The run and walk, which draws more than 500 participants each year raises funds for patient care services. The community event raised $45,000 last year and this year's goal will be to increase by $5,000. "We're asking everyone to come out and show their community spirit and support for the hospital by participating in this healthy event," said Diana Vose, President of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation. "The run and walk is a great family event and it supports the only acute care hospital in our community.'' Registration for the run and walk opens at the Henry Mayo parking lot at 7 a.m. The 5-K run will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the non-competitive walk and will continue along the picturesque paseos of Valencia, ending at the United Methodist Church near the hospital. Children under 10 years of age can also participate in the 1-K "Kiddie" run on the hospital's parking lot starting at 8:15 a.m. Those wishing to participate in the event can register online through active.com or through the hospital's Web site at www.henrymayo.com. The pre-registration fee for the 5K event is $20. Runners will be provided with snacks, T-shirts and raffle tickets for a drawing at the event. Sponsorships for the event range from a $100 to $5,000. |
