The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center is dedicated to delivering comprehensive breast imaging services using state-of-the-art digital technology. We offer diagnostic excellence in the early detection of breast cancer in a warm and caring environment. Designated by the American College of Radiology as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center is defined by quality standards and has undergone a rigorous accreditation process including image evaluations by a team of experts.
Our expertise in cancer detection services is notable through care provided by our highly qualified medical and technical professionals, and input and collegial consultancy from the area’s leading oncologists and other medical specialists. Our technologists and physicians are exceptionally skilled and proficient in mammography, ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, fine needle aspiration and pre-operative needle localizations.
We are one of the only centers in the Santa Clarita Valley offering the latest in digital technology for mammograms. Processing of digital images is faster than conventional film processing and images are clearer and able to be interpreted with more accuracy. Digital imaging also utilizes Computer Aided Detection software, which serves as a “second pair of eyes.” The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center was created through the experiences of breast cancer survivors, patients and their families; the center is designed with your physical and emotional needs in mind. Our goal is to improve access to breast imaging services in the Santa Clarita Valley with the specific intent to make it easier and more convenient for women to have their annual mammograms and to reduce the anxiety associated with breast cancer detection.
Saturday, evening and lunchtime appointments are available to accommodate even the busiest schedules. Our goal to make every visit as easy and convenient as possible, and we encourage everyone who visits us to give us their opinions and talk to us about their needs. It is our aim and goal to alleviate or minimize the anxiety a woman feels when she receives a diagnostic mammogram. We believe it is important to answer all your questions and provide solid and complete information about our findings and your options. Education and Community Resources The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center plays an integral role in meeting Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s mission to improve the health of our community with compassion and excellence in health care services. Awareness of the importance of breast health is a vital key to the well-being of women. We encourage women to schedule their first screening mammogram by the age of 40, and yearly thereafter. This, along with breast self-examination and clinical exams is the best formula for early detection. In keeping with our vision to create the ideal healthcare environment to surpass expectations, we are certified participants in the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) ™ program which measures our timeliness from detection to surgery against other centers nationwide. Our commitment to the community includes improving access to breast imaging services and breast health education. We offer referrals to screening programs and utilize funding for subsidized care for uninsured patients. Educational literature includes instructions for self-examinations, local cancer support groups, healthy living, and options for care and treatment.
